Cooking with Anita Marcela: Butter Cookies to make with kids
This recipe for butter cookies is very simple. It is the ideal recipe for baking a fast batch of cookies to decorate later. If you are going to bake them with kids, I recommend that you pre-measure all ingredients and have all of your tools at hand: a bowl, wooden pallet, roller, cookie cutters or stamps and trays with waxed paper. This way you can avoid the kids becoming impatient or making measuring mistakes because they are in a hurry.
Cooks in 45 minutes approx.
Serves: 10 - 20 cookies
What you’ll need //
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 cup of all-purpose flour
In the mixer, blend the salt-free butter, sugar, salt, eggs, vanilla, and all-purpose wheat flour. Form a ball of dough.
Cover the mixture in plastic wrap and put it in the freezer for an hour.
On a floured surface, roll the dough out with a roller and cut the cookies with different cutters. The ideal thing would be to let the kids join help at this point. They can add sprinkles or leave the cookies as they are and decorate them after they are taken out of the oven.
Bake them for 6 to 12 minutes at 350F, and enjoy when they’re ready.
