Cooking with Anita Marcela: Homemade Fruity Popsicles
Making popsicles at home guarantees more fun and refreshing way to eat fruits, and the best of all is that they are effortless to make. Below I've left a formula that does not fail. You can try it with your kids' favorite fruits.
Our three favorites of the moment are strawberry with watermelon, passion fruit with mango, and lemon with mint. These refreshing flavors are ideal for the summer heat and are the perfect snack for big and little ones.
To prepare these popsicles at home, you'd need molds, wood popsicles, fruits of your choice, orange juice and if you want, you can add a little bit of sugar. If you're planning to make the popsicles with children, they will also need patience, as always they think that everything will be ready to eat as soon as they finish. You'll have to manage their expectations, so you have time to freeze them and have them ready to eat.
Serves: 8 popsicles
What you'll need //
- 2 cup of fruits puree
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 2 tablespoon sugar (optional)
Mix the fruit purée with the orange juice and sugar. Fill the molds with the mix and put them in the freezer. When they start to get firm, place a wooden stick in the center of each ice cream. Leave it in the fridge until they are firm.
To take them out of the mold, pass the frame through some hot water and remove the popsicles from it.
You can also prepare a version with yogurt. You can mix 1 cup orange juice, 1 ½ cup natural yogurt, and 1/3 cup sugar. Mix everything and serve into the molds. Put in the freezer. You can also add fruit purée.
I encourage you to prepare your first ice cream and see how easy and fun it is. Then, you'll want to try all the fruits and combinations.
